Hoseok Seo, MD, PhD

Hoseok Seo, MD, PhD, is a gastric cancer surgeon and associate professor in the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, The Catholic University of Korea. He performs laparoscopic and robotic gastrectomy. His research looks at how the choice of reconstruction after gastrectomy affects bile reflux and quality of life, and at using AI to analyze surgical images. He also sees patients for bariatric and metabolic surgery, anti-reflux surgery, hernia repair, and surgical endoscopy.

He graduated from the College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea, where he also received his master's and doctoral degrees. He joined Seoul St. Mary's Hospital as a clinical fellow in 2016 and has been an associate professor since 2024. From August 2024 to January 2026 he was a research fellow at the Surgical Artificial Intelligence Research Academy, University Health Network, Toronto.
